[Interview] Laon People Accelerates Expansion into the Vertical VLM Market
Laon People is accelerating its transformation into a “practical AI company” by expanding the real-world deployment of Vision Language Model (VLM)-based AI solutions. Centered around its AI video surveillance solution, “Odin AI,” which was developed based on the company’s machine vision expertise, Laon People is actively expanding implementation cases across industries including manufacturing, airports, smart cities, and retail, targeting the growing vertical VLM market.
Odin AI is a next-generation intelligent surveillance solution that combines VLM and LLM technologies to understand not only objects, but also situations and contextual information within video footage. The solution can simultaneously analyze complex events, such as whether workers are wearing safety helmets while entering hazardous zones, significantly reducing the false alarm issues commonly associated with conventional intelligent CCTV systems.
Its growing number of real-world deployments across industries has drawn particular attention. SK Energy has transitioned approximately 500 oil tanker vehicle operation data streams from manual analysis to an Odin AI-based automated analysis system. Meanwhile, a display manufacturing company is currently pursuing a project aimed at dramatically reducing more than 1,000 false alarms generated daily across a 5,000-channel CCTV environment.
Applications in public infrastructure and global markets are also expanding. At Incheon International Airport, Odin AI is being used for shuttle train platform congestion analysis and safety management. In Thailand’s Bueng Kan Province along the Mekong River, the solution has been deployed as a smart water-level monitoring system for flood detection during the rainy season. In Vietnam’s retail sector, it is being utilized to improve operational efficiency and security through customer entry counting and QR payment anomaly detection.
At the same time, Laon People is experiencing rapid growth in its golf AI solution business. Its golf swing analysis solution, “V-Track,” is expanding its global distributor and reseller network across North America, particularly in the United States and Canada, while product supply volumes continue to rise. Building on this momentum, the company plans to further expand into the global sports AI market.
The company’s technological competitiveness has also been officially recognized. Laon People obtained certifications in seven categories of the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) Intelligent CCTV Performance Evaluation and additionally secured GS Grade 1 certification, strengthening its foundation for entry into the public procurement market. Notably, the company optimized its solution to support real-time multi-channel analysis even in edge environments powered by a single RTX GPU or NVIDIA Jetson platform, achieving both high performance and cost efficiency.
Going forward, Laon People plans to expand Odin AI into public safety, defense, and smart city sectors, while also accelerating the development of multi-agent workflow automation systems integrated with its AI agent platform, “Hi FENN.” In parallel, the company is actively pursuing global business expansion across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
