AI Vision Specialist Recognized for Smart Factory Implementation Technology

LaonPeople, a specialist in AI vision solutions, has won the Gold Prize in the Smart Factory AI Vision category at the ‘AI Science & Technology Innovation Awards 2025’ for its self-developed smart factory implementation solution, the ‘ADC (Automatic Defect Classification) System.’

The ‘AI Science & Technology Innovation Awards 2025’ is a leading domestic AI technology awards ceremony hosted by the Korea Information Science Promotion Association and co-organized by relevant institutions, including the Korea Machine Vision Industrial Association. LaonPeople’s ADC System was selected for the Gold Prize, earning high scores for its originality, stability, and commercial viability among a total of 243 submitted technologies.

The ADC System is an automated defect classification system that integrates AI models, vision solutions, inspection protocols, and an MLOps platform into a single solution. It aims to minimize the defect rate on production lines and realize stable quality management by compensating for the limitations of traditional AI vision and operational automation. A key feature is its design to resolve the issue of model performance degradation over time with minimal human intervention.

The core of the system is the human-inspection hybrid structure referred to as the ‘Inspector.’ Only a small number of low-confidence exceptions identified by the AI are verified directly by a human, while the vast majority are processed automatically by the AI. The data corrected by human judgment is then reflected back into the AI learning process, creating a structure that continuously sustains model performance. Only a few exceptional cases that the AI is uncertain about are passed to the human. The human compensates for AI errors with minimal intervention, and the AI relearns from the human’s corrected data to continuously maintain its model performance.

Seokjung Lee, CEO of LaonPeople, stated, “The ADC System fundamentally improves the problem of unstable detection rates that existing machine vision and AI solutions faced. It will become a core solution capable of elevating the quality competitiveness of manufacturing sites to the next level.”

LaonPeople plans to expand partnerships primarily with domestic and international manufacturing companies and smart factory solution providers following this award.
