LaonPeople Accelerates Business Diversification: TDG Acquisition Seen as a Strategic Game Changer

From next-generation battery inspection to international expansion into Thailand, AI specialist LaonPeople (300120) is entering 2025 with strong momentum as it pushes aggressively for business diversification and global market growth—expected to deliver visible performance improvements starting in the first half of the year.

LaonPeople has already seen meaningful growth in its AI vision inspection business early this year. Vision inspection has long been one of the company’s core strengths, enabling manufacturers to detect defects in production processes, equipment, and components using advanced AI technology. The company continues to expand its footprint across industries such as secondary batteries, mobile devices, and semiconductor manufacturing, contributing to a steady increase in revenue. With order volume rising significantly in Q1, LaonPeople is expected to secure stable revenue streams in the second half of the year.

A major catalyst for the company’s growth is the acquisition of TDG, a firm generating over KRW 200 billion in annual revenue, which analysts view as a “masterstroke” in LaonPeople’s AI expansion strategy. TDG is widely recognized as the industry’s top AI Managed Service Provider (AI MSP), consistently posting more than 10% annual revenue growth. Its order backlog at the end of last year even exceeded its annual revenue, indicating a highly stable business structure.
By integrating TDG into its consolidated financial statements, LaonPeople expects the acquisition to have a positive and immediate impact on this year’s performance, particularly as the two companies collaborate in AI cloud services and platform businesses.

LaonPeople is also accelerating its international initiatives. The company recently signed an MOU with Bueng Kan Province in Thailand to pilot a generative AI–powered flood and disaster detection solution. Ahead of the main project phase, Thailand’s Vice Minister of Interior and Smart City Budget Committee members visited LaonPeople’s headquarters in Gwacheon for on-site evaluation, signaling strong interest and early progress.
In addition, Thailand is showing growing interest in LaonPeople’s AI-based fire detection solutions. Late last year, LaonPeople deployed a generative AI fire monitoring system to Yongsan District Office in Korea. During the Thai delegation’s visit, the company showcased the system’s capabilities — including early detection of faint smoke and flames, automated alert dispatching, and real-time safety instructions for emergency response — receiving positive feedback for its potential to prevent large-scale fires through rapid and proactive control.

The need for AI fire detection is especially high in Thailand, where electric vehicles and electric motorcycles are rapidly expanding, leading to frequent fire incidents. Dense urban traffic conditions further hinder fast firefighting response, underscoring the necessity of intelligent early-warning solutions. LaonPeople’s fire detection technology is also gaining traction in Korea, with applications across apartment complexes, public institutions, large shopping malls, airports, and ports, raising expectations for revenue growth.

Following the relocation of its headquarters to Gwacheon last year, LaonPeople has focused on operational innovation—enhancing development environments, securing top-tier talent, and strengthening sales capabilities. With new business initiatives underway and global expansion accelerating, the company appears poised for a strategic turnaround, drawing attention to whether LaonPeople can achieve both revenue growth and profitability improvement in the coming quarters.
