LaonRoad, a subsidiary of AI technology company LaonPeople, has been awarded a government project to develop a “360° AI Intersection Analysis and Digital Twin–Based Real-Time Traffic Control Platform.”

LaonRoad (CEO: Seok-Joong Lee), an AI-driven smart mobility solutions company, announced on the 17th that it has been selected for the SME Technology Innovation Development Program (collaborative performance category) hosted by the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA).
The project aims to build a smart intersection control platform that uses 360° panoramic video to analyze objects and events through AI, while leveraging Digital Twin technology to support real-time monitoring and predictive traffic management.

LaonRoad is participating in the ITS-specialized consortium led by UT Information Co., Ltd., with PhilBetter and Hanil STM responsible for various sub-projects.
LaonRoad will develop AI-based object detection and tracking algorithms, detect real-time traffic and unexpected incidents using 360° omnidirectional video, and significantly enhance intersection safety through semantic interpretation powered by generative AI and VLM (Vision-Language Model) technologies.

A LaonRoad spokesperson explained, “This collaboration among leading ITS SMEs will establish a smart intersection control platform that integrates Digital Twin technology with generative AI, playing a crucial role in national industrial advancement—particularly in smart cities and autonomous driving. Real-time traffic analysis and incident response will reduce accidents and enable safer, more intelligent urban environments.”

The project will undergo real-world demonstration and validation at intersections in Hwaseong Special City, which recently declared its vision as an “AI-powered future city.”
The initiative will run for three years, from this month through August 2027.
