LaonPeople Targets Completion of First-Phase AI Smart City Project in Thailand by Year-End
Driving global expansion with Korean AI semiconductors and OdinAI
LaonPeople, a leading AI platform company, is accelerating its Korean-style AI semiconductor–based smart city initiative in Thailand, strengthening its technological competitiveness in global markets.
The company is expanding its presence across Southeast Asia by supplying core AI technologies—such as OdinAI for crime prevention and disaster response—alongside participating in the Korean government–supported overseas demonstration project for domestic AI semiconductors. Through these efforts, LaonPeople is positioning itself at the center of digital transformation initiatives in the region.

As part of Thailand’s “THAILAND 4.0” national strategy, LaonPeople previously announced plans to establish the foundation of a smart city model in Bueng Kan Province by the end of this year, leveraging Korean AI semiconductors and OdinAI. The model includes an integrated safety management system capable of multi-modal surveillance—covering crime detection, vehicle identification, traffic accidents, fires, and flooding—and can be further expanded into autonomous driving infrastructure, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and digital twin frameworks.
LaonPeople has already demonstrated the effectiveness of its AI platform and OdinAI technologies through pilot deployments. By integrating video, language, and sensor data through multimodal learning, the company is preparing to extend its capabilities to smart healthcare, agriculture, and environmental domains—laying the groundwork for Bueng Kan to become a next-generation AI smart city hub.

Recently upgraded to Thailand’s 77th province, Bueng Kan sits along a 120-kilometer stretch of the Mekong River bordering Laos. To boost tourism, trade, and investment, the province completed construction of the 5th Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge, creating an active logistics corridor extending from Laos through Vietnam to China—solidifying its position as a rapidly growing strategic hub. Since its elevation to provincial status, Bueng Kan has been pursuing a 10-year urban development plan spanning economic, social, technological, and environmental sectors centered around smart city development.
The province is also moving forward with large-scale national infrastructure projects, supported by the Thai government. These include the expansion of National Highways 212 and 222, construction of a new customs office, development of expressway links to Udon Thani Airport, and feasibility studies for a new regional airport—all aimed at establishing Bueng Kan as a full-scale smart new city within the next decade.
LaonPeople’s AI initiative in Thailand is significant not merely as a global expansion effort but as a strategic step toward worldwide adoption of Korean smart city technologies. Its integrated approach—utilizing domestic AI semiconductors, the OdinAI platform, and smart city solutions spanning transportation, public safety, and disaster response—positions the company to play a leading role in the digital transformation of future global cities.
A LaonPeople spokesperson stated, “We aim to provide advanced traffic control and crime prevention systems driven by AI, enabling Bueng Kan to solidify its position as Thailand’s central AI smart city hub. As the project expands, we plan to establish cooperative frameworks with Bueng Kan and other major Thai cities to drive mutual growth.”
